How-To Upgrade Firmware on Intel S5520UR Server using EFI Interface

1 min read

Archived from my original blog (2011). Some details may be out of date.

This is probably as straight-forward as can be, but I found very few resources describing this. The steps are as follows:

  • Download at least the EFI version of the latest Firmware version. (Ex: Here)
  • Extract the contents of the ZIP file to a Flash Drive.
  • Insert the Flash Drive into the Server and switch it on.
  • During Boot, Press  to go into BIOS Setup.
  • Go to the “Boot Manager” Menu and choose “Internal EFI Shell” option.
  • Once the EFI is booted up, type the following to make sure that the Flash Drive is mounted, and note the drive (Usually fs0)
 map -r
  • Change to the Flash drive by typing (Note the colon at the end):
fs0:
  • Change to the folder that you extracted the firmware to (if any)
  • Start the upgrade by typing the following:
startup
