Wavemaker Installation on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

1 min read

Archived from my original blog (2011). Some details may be out of date.

To install WaveMaker on Ubuntu is quite easy. Just download the installation package from the wavemaker website useing:

wget http://wavemaker.cachefly.net/wavemaker_6.3.2GA_i386.deb

This is for the current latest, version, please visit the WaveMaker website to check for the latest version. Also if you have a 64-bit Ubuntu, the link will be different, and you can once again fetch it from the WaveMaker website:

Once downloaded you can install it by doing a standard:

dpkg -i wavemaker-version.deb

Since WaveMaker has moved to Complete Open Source, you will also need to complete the installation by downloading a couple of additional plug-ins. Thas luckily been automated, and you will be asked to just approve the download when you first visit the WaveMaker interface at:

http://ip-of-ubuntu:8049/wavemaker

The problem I encountered however was that the server did not start automatically.  To fix this problem, add the following line to /etc/rc.local

./opt/wavemaker-community-6.X.XGA/bin/wavemaker.sh start
